WD-40

February 9, 2007 at 11:38 am (Random)

The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find a “water displacement” compound. They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40.
The Corvair Company bought it in bulk to protect their atlas missile parts. The workers were so pleased with the product, they began smuggling (also known as “shrinkage” or “stealing”) it out to use at home. The executives decided there might be a consumer market for it, and put it in aerosol cans.
The rest, as they say, is history. It is a carefully guarded recipe known only to four people. Only one of them is the “brew master.” There are about 2.5 million gallons of the stuff manufactured each year. It gets its distinctive smell from a fragrance that is added to the brew. Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40 that would hurt you.

Bombay Rock.

October 15, 2006 at 11:12 am (Body Mods, Car, Music, Work)

Bombay Rock is the name of the newest nightclub in Townsville, and I love it so dearly! In an earlier post, I mentioned the opening night, where Rell and I went to see the Butterfly Effect. Cruising the site today, I see that the Butterfly Effect are scheduled to play again, for the club’s christmas party :D I very nearly orgasmed when I saw the lineup for that event! There’s TBE as the main event, as well as Japunga, Merlin’s Traffic and Melodyssey… all awesome QLD bands that deserve some serious respect.

Before the Christmas gig however, Bombay Rock are hosting Shihad, on 17th November, John Butler Trio on 7th december and various other bands that I’ve yet to care about.

The best part of all of this however, and the reason I love the club so much is that tickets are only $23.30 for ANYTHING! (internet price, I think it’s about $30 if you buy at the door.)

As a side note before I finish,

  • I got my car back, it’s beautiful! and mum asked me if I want to sell it. If I can get at least $7k for it I’ll think about it, but any less than that and I’m keeping it!
  • I dreamt about work last night… it sucked! the most interesting part of the dream was where I freaked out coz there were spiders everywhere… not fun, but interesting.
  • I had to take out my surface piercing because it was starting to embed

The good, the bad and the very very ugly.

October 8, 2006 at 9:23 pm (Body Mods, Car, flatting, friends, Nerdstuffs, Socialising, Stress, Work)

The good:

I cooked myself a very nice meal tonight :D I had steak and eggs, it was cooked beautifully, and I’m very proud of myself for that effort :D :D

We’ve found ourselves a new flatmate, and she’s moved in and paid her first week’s rent, so the phone bill and the internet bill have both been paid, and bought some more groceries. I’m finally up to date on all the bills, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Bought myself a ps1 the other day, as well as Tekken 3, worked fine for a day or so, but now it’s having trouble reading the discs, so I dunno what’s goin on there… either way, we’ve borrowed a ps2 from a friend for a while, so we can still play, and we’ve got more games!

The bad:

I’ve lost my wallet, containing 3 bank cards, my visa card, my drivers licence, various other membership cards and $120 cash. *cries* So now I’ve cancelled all my cards and I’m waiting on new ones in the mail over the next week or so, and I have to buy a new wallet. Sucks again because I’ve got about $300 that I can’t access without my cards, as well as the cash. On the plus side of that, we don’t have to pay anything for the flat until the 23rd, so I won’t be overdue on any bills or anything.  it’s probably going to cost me about $30 to replace my driver’s licence, and until I get a chance to do that, I won’t be able to go out, including last night, and I just have to pray I don’t get pulled over while I’m driving. I was lucky enough on my last rbt that they didn’t ask to see my licence, so I’m hoping I won’t if I get tested again.

The very very ugly:
I dunno… just needed to finish the phrase :p

stuff…

October 4, 2006 at 12:22 am (Car, deviantART, flatting, Nerdstuffs, shopping, Stress)

I’ve got a few things to update on today, so I’ll go in alphabetical order of the categories.

Car

went into the panel beaters today, to fix the giant crater in my door, and hopefully I’ll be able to open both doors from the inside AND the outside :D haven’t done that in a while. I’ve been driving mum’s car in the mean time, and getting lifts from a friend when mum needs her car.

deviantART

(also contains some nerdstuff) CSS has been introduced for beta testing subscribers, so I found myself a template and got crackin on a shiny new journal. You can check it out here.

Flatting

(also contains intense amounts of stress) My sister has moved out, Amanda isn’t moving in, and I just got every bill imaginable. Phone bill, power bill, internet bill and over $1000 worth of rent are all due within the next four weeks. fun stuff. On the plus side though, we have a new lounge suit, the fux0red couch is downstairs with the rest of the furniture that we still have to move. Rell’s taking Emma’s bed, and Rell’s bed is going into the spare room, but for now we have a friend staying with us for a few days from out of town staying in Rell’s room coz Rell’s in Emma’s room until we get a chance to move the beds. We’re cat-sitting for a friend, so we get a fiddy when she gets back from brissy. $$ We desperately need a new house-mate, and at the moment, it looks like we can accept anyone who can guarantee the rent be paid.

Nerdstuff

(also shopping) Got my ps1 in the mail today… fucking rocks to have something to play! We only have Gex in the way of games for the moment, but I have more coming… thanks ebay! :D

I think that’s about it for now… bored with nothing else to say.

Have fun, don’t die,

<3 Love you all :D

visitors, a weekend off and a revolution.

September 26, 2006 at 2:01 pm (Car, flatting, friends, health, Music, Nerdstuffs, Random, shopping, Socialising, Stress, style, Work)

Visitors:

We had a pretty full house all weekend, Anna’s friend Lorry came to stay with us from up north, and coz Anna lives out of town, she stayed with us for the 5 days as well. (friday to tuesday) Nick’s parents have gone away for the weekend, and he had to stay for work, so he stayed with us too, coz he lives out of town as well, and is in love with Anna.  On a somewhat related note, our sofa bed is now totally fucked. Ah well… My brother is giving us his old lounge suit, so I’m thinking we’ll have the new one in the lounge, and put the sofa bed either in the spare room til someone moves into it, and then have it downstairs.  Overall, it was a good weekend, full of good friends, good food, good music and good games! (Nick brought over his xbox, ps2, psp and nds)

Weekend Off:
I was supposed to be working all weekend, but instead, I decided to get a stomach bug on wednesday, and have myself five days off work. It was alright, coz I got a couple of scripts from the docs, so I was’t nauseous all weekend, but I still had a certificate to get off work til monday night.  Only thing that sucks is that i’ll have fuck all pay this week. *sigh!*  doesn’t help that the phone bill, internet bill and rent just got paid, so I’m totally broke now, but my car’s rego is due in the next few weeks, so even when I do get something back into my savings, it’ll have to come straight back out again to pay that. *double sigh!*

 Revolution:

My sister, with whom I have had a lot of trouble, has decided to move to Cairns. I have no idea how, and honestly, I don’t care so long as I get the money she owes me. ($1000!) I’d like to see how she even gets out of town with that kind of debt. she’s insane I tell you! INSANE! Anyway, it’s a good thing on a lot of levels for me, because she’s impossible to live with, and for that reason, nooone wanted to move in with us, which we desperately need. Now that she’s moving out, we have more people interested in moving in with us, as well as an extra room, for someone who I can rely on to pay the rent on time, unlike some people who spend whatever money they do manage to find somewhere, on weed and vodka, but that’s not my point. My point is, Emma’s moving out, and we have more people interested in moving in, so HOORAY!

 Other:

I got a new top from ebay :D , it’s goooooorgeous, and I have another, similar one coming in the mail. Tom got the Penny Arcade comic in the mail the other day, mum’s painting the house, we finally figured out when bin day is, I filled my pool in the middle of the downstairs lounge, apparently someone wants to buy the house and I think that’s all I have to write abour for now.

Until next time, have fun, don’t die <3

I got it!

September 18, 2006 at 6:18 pm (Comics, friends, Nerdstuffs, photography, shopping, style)

some of you may know that I recently spent just under $200 on thinkgeek.com, on various different things, including “the ultimate birthday present” for Tom.

I got the package today! :D

The shirts are awesome, and sooooo comfortable, the cactus is so cute! the thinking putty is incredible and the octane gel makes me tingle all over! (literally! it’s good stuff)

However, the gem in the entire collection, the reason for the entire order, the piece de resistance, is this:

Going to send it to Tom on payday :) Happy b’day.

now, to show off shirts! Click here for flickr account with bigger versions.

You can also see my new haircut in the last one… as well as in a few other pics on the flickr account.

Overall, I was really excited to finally get all this stuff, and I love it all to bits!

BROADBAND!

September 3, 2006 at 3:57 pm (Body Mods, Nerdstuffs, photography, shopping)

After almost a month of dial up, after several weeks of nothing, we FINALLY have our broad band connection set up :D I was almost dying! I have so many songs I want to download, and comics to catch up on, and so much other stuff that the internet has been far too slow to do. :D

On another note, I finished the first on my list of things to do in the next month… I finished my eyebrow project! :D

I love it so much ^_^ It feels really cool too.

Same day I got that done,I did a LOT of shopping… bought a few really nice new bras, and a belt and some other stuff that I can’t remember.

On my days off, Anna, Rell Emma and I went to the beach for a picnic, and took a heap of photos, you can see some of those that I took on my dA page, I quite like them ^_^

That’s about it for the moment, EXTREMELY happy to finally have broadband… I’m about to catch up on about a month’s worth of comics and stuff :p

plans?

August 28, 2006 at 12:40 am (Random)

Tom’s latest blog got me thinking about life plans, so here it goes:

1 Month

get my eyebrow thing finished

figure out what the long term set up of my desk is gonna be (it’s not working as it is)
find more flatmates

1 year

Get to New Zealand,

have at least my second tattoo

5 Year

umm… be alive?

So yeah… that’s about all I have in the way of plans. Honestly, I haven’t even looked far enough ahead to see what I’ll be doing after the sugar season ends. *shrug* depends on whether or not I come back from NZ I guess.
