note: check out my flickr account for pics, they might not be there straight away, but they will be there eventually

Q- What do you get when you mix me and Rell with a brand spankin new nightclub, excellent bands and $150?

A- The most AWESOME night I’ve had in a long, long time. :D

Friday night, Rell and I were picked up from home around 7.30, got to Bombay Rock about an hour later, to find the line winding its way around the block, so yet another hour later, we’d missed the first band, and we were finally through the door. At this point, the mosh pit was pretty much empty, and everyone was just chilling out while the roadies set up for the second band of the night, Repeat Offender. (www.myspace.com/repeatoffendermusic, www.repeatoffender.com.au) I would give a link, rather than the url, but the linking tool still isn’t working for me. Anyway… So during this time, I’ve checked out the merchandise table and spent $30 on a Butterfly Effect top, and $2 on a badge. w00t for badges =P

Enter band #2: Repeat Offender. They have some awesome tracks, and they’re great performers – Got the crowd really well psyched up, and the lighters came out for a cover of “Broken Wings” good song that one *nods* after playing for their hour, the roadies turned up to once again change everything around and do whatever they do before the main event. They took ages, and by this point theĀ  mosh pit was packed, and everyone was chanting “Butterfly Effect! Butterfly Effect!”

Opening number was sung from the top of the speakers, and virtually the whole crowd was singing along, it was great. For the most part of the night, I was squished up against the stage, and the mosh pit was mad… Rell and I were separated at one point and I was just thinking “shit, I have her phone!” Ah well… it was all good. They played a lot of their older tracks, which I am really greatful for, because I far prefer the first album to the second… there’s a lot more bass, and it’s better to mosh to ;) I’m proud to say I moshed my way to not only one, but TWO asthma attacks, and I spent the remainder of the night sitting on the steps of the stage, best spot in the house ;)

So finally the show was over, and it was time to head home, but not before I grabbed myself a copy of Repeat Offender’s EP, of which, I’d have to say my favourite track is “Smaller and More Efficient” The singer was hanging around the merch table, and he sold me the cd, and signed it for me. In true Sara style, I gave him a really big hug :D hugs are cool *nod*

Crashed out at home about 1.30, and slept til 9, when I had to get up for work, and this is pretty much the first time I’ve been home since. (sunday night)

I’ve worked almost 60 hours in the last week, and only slept for 11. needless to say, I’m absolutely fucked. Slept for 15 minutes at work before I finished tonight, and I certainly needed it. I got half an hour during my break the other day too… deepest sleep I’ve ever had, in the space of half an hour, it was nuts.

I’ve had a really nasty cough all week, and it’s only gotten worse, to the point where it feels like I’m about to hack up my lungs :( not fun. Actually quite painful. Ah well… it can’t last forever I s’pose.

Amanda still hasn’t moved in, and if she keeps stalling, I’m gonna start looking for someone else to move in.

After my awesome huge pay from all my overtime this week, I’m gonna get my eyebrow thing finished, I’ve decided to do it for sure. *nods*

umm… The endĀ  :D

  1. Bombay Rock. « Sara’s blog said,

[...] Bombay Rock is the name of the newest nightclub in Townsville, and I love it so dearly! In an earlier post, I mentioned the opening night, where Rell and I went to see the Butterfly Effect. Cruising the site today, I see that the Butterfly Effect are scheduled to play again, for the club’s christmas party I very nearly orgasmed when I saw the lineup for that event! There’s TBE as the main event, as well as Japunga, Merlin’s Traffic and Melodyssey… all awesome QLD bands that deserve some serious respect. [...]
